Overall machine specifications
- Foot print is 30” wide X 24” deep.
- Peeler is 40” wide X 34” deep X 80” (+,- 2”) tall.
- Weight is approximately 400#; shipping weight is
- approximately 775#.
Ease and frequency of cleaning
Very simple to clean. Can be cleaned with hot water, chlorinated water and standard cleaners used for fresh cut equipment. Clean as required - at least daily.
All stainless steel and Delrin used in construction.
(No mild steel or painted parts).
Instructional details/training
- The Peeler is shipped with step by step instructions for ease of installation.
- Training is quite minimal. Because of the simplicity of the Peeler, training is generally accomplished in 60 minutes.
- Factory field service engineer is available to supervise installation, and training, if necessary.
No daily controls access is required. The 24” X 24” enclosure housing the motor inverters, air components, PLC and main power relay is mounted on the top rear side of the Peeler. This area need only be accessed for trouble shooting or maintenance.
Noise level is minimal. The majority of the noise is air exhausting through air mufflers, which again is minimal.
Recommended protective equipment required for safe operation
It's not required.
Flow of waste – (equipment needed to remove peelings)
A small conveyor to catch and convey the peelings is recommended. There is also room below the peeling area to use a waste receptacle (trash can) for simplicity. Filled waste receptacles can be exchanged with empty receptacles as-required. It does not take long to generate a lot of peelings.
Electrical/air/water requirements
- 4.5 amps of 208/230 single phase electricity, 50/60 hertz.
- Air: 2 C.F.M. at 80 P.S.I.
- Water: Less than 4 gallons GPH at 40 P.S.I. (Female garden hose connector on Peeler).
- Marathon Inverter-Duty Motors.
- Toshiba Variable Frequency Drives.
- Allen Bradley electromechanical relays.
- Allen Bradley MicroLogix P.L.C.’s
- Pepperl-Fuchs proximity sensors
Spare and replacement parts
All Peeler parts are stocked and available for same day shipping. A recommended spare parts list is available.
Daily: Ensure that the lubricator is full and the drip rate is adjusted properly; air filter should
be checked and drained if necessary and the cutting head assembly should be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized, and check fasteners for tightness.
Replace cutting blade if necessary.
Monthly: Lubricate bearings and check fasteners for tightness.
- Maximum Height - Standard 12.5” / Butternut Squash 14.5”
- Minimum Height - Standard 5.0” / Butternut Squash 3.0” (w/Spindle Extension)
- Maximum Diameter - Standard 10.5” / Butternut Squash 6.0”
- Minimum Diameter - Standard 1.5” / Butternut Squash 1.5”
Round; Oblong, Pear-shaped. *Fruit does not need to be truly round*. Because the cutting head follows the contour of the fruit: The fruit can be quite a bit out-of-round and still be peeled quite well. For severely out of round fruit: The Peeler should be operated at one of the slower (7) pre-set speeds. Very round fruit can be peeled at faster speeds.
Based on information from current users: Yield on honey dew and cantaloupe varies between 50% and 65%. This variation is due to different size (count) melons, rind thickness and uniformity, size of seed cavity and peeling depth set by the user.
Up to 6 cantaloupes, honey dew, or pineapples, per minute. Highest throughput is achieved when the fruit is presented to the operator in a way that makes it easy for them to reach the product and load the Peeler. The placing of the peeled melons should also be conveniently located, as well.
